About

"Layla the Glamping Trailer" is an all-original 1959 Shasta travel trailer, one of 4 vintage travel trailers in the "Ashford Lodge Vintage Trailer Glampground", located in the town of Ashford just minutes from the entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park! Featuring a fire pit, hammock, private glamping shower and bathroom, retro trailer decor, kitchenette, picnic table, and access to our lodge's hot tub, this is the perfect base for all of your Mt. Rainier adventures!

Good to know

Layla is tucked in a corner of our Vintage Trailer Glampground, under the shade of a beautiful old cherry tree, with 3 other vintage trailers nearby! Our property, the Ashford Lodge, also features cabin suites, a hot tub, BBQ gazebo, and is right next door to BaseCamp Bar and Grill (burgers, pizza, cold drinks, and live music on the weekends in a fun outdoor setting). Located just behind our property are the forested trails of Ashford County Park! "Layla" is an authentic 1959 Shasta travel trailer that has been lovingly maintained over the years. A California Girl with beachy vibes, we found her way down in southern California back in 2022, fell in love, and towed her back up north! Head inside and you'll be transported back to a simpler time, with warm wood panelled walls, fun vintage trailer decor, and everything you need for a comfy, fun, "Glamping" experience! In case you're not familiar with the term "Glamping", so you know what to expect: It means "Glamorous Camping"! There are more comforts than camping in a tent, but a bit less than staying in a hotel room. It's a fun, adventurous experience that gets you in touch with the outdoors with some comfort and style, and for a lower price than a hotel or cabin! I.e, you'll have a soft comfy bed and stove for preparing meals, but no WiFi, air conditioning, tv, etc. There is a private shower and toilet, but they are "outhouse-style" and are open to the outdoors, so bugs are always a possibility. Our vintage trailers are lovingly maintained, but they are still decades old, which means they may have some quirks! Are you still ready for a unique travel experience in a vintage trailer under the stars? Cool! Read on :) The bed features soft cotton sheets and a down comforter with duvet cover and 4 soft pillows. Note that the bed is a cozy fit for two average-sized adults, but that's part of the fun! The kitchenette has everything you need to prepare simple meals. The sink has running potable water (cold only!), and we supply pots and pans to use for cooking. Cook yourself a delicious meal on the 3-burner gas stove! A mini-fridge keeps your food cool, and we of course also supply silverware, plates, bowls, glasses, and mugs. To get you going in the morning, there is fresh-ground coffee and a French Press coffee maker, with sugar, creamer, tea, and cocoa as well. Outside the trailer, there is a sturdy picnic table surrounded by glowing string lights so you can enjoy meals or board games surrounded by fresh air. A propane fire pit with two lounge chairs is a great place to unwind with a refreshment and enjoy the glow of a warm fire under the stars! A boho hammock swings beneath the limb of the old cherry tree, so get ready to relax and unwind :) Next to the trailer is your private glamping bathroom setup, with cedar outbuildings housing a hot shower (featuring luxury Beekman 1802 body wash, shampoo, and conditioner), and a full flush toilet. You will also have access to our property's hot tub, in a private setting in the garden behind our main lodge! (Note that it's a bit of a walk, but it's worth it!) The hot tub is in a beautiful wooden gazebo for privacy, and features string lights on an adjustable dimmer. Please note that the hot tub is shared with other guests of Ashford Lodge on a "first-come-first-served" basis; we ask that guests limit their soaks to an hour to give everyone time to enjoy. You can also use the gas BBQ and picnic table in our separate BBQ gazebo behind the main lodge. Bring your own steaks or burgers and have yourself a cookout! The BBQ gazebo is also a great place to connect to our lodge's WiFi if you need it. Or, if you'd rather someone else does the cooking for you, just walk right next door to BaseCamp Bar and Grill for burgers, pizzas, and a large craft beer selection! Our property backs right up to Ashford County park with its network of hiking trails (you might see the occasional person walking along the trail that goes behind the camper, but a row of trees provides privacy). Pour yourself a cup of coffee, find the gap in the trees right behind the trailer that leads to the trails, and take a morning stroll! Note that our WiFi doesn't currently reach all the way out to the trailers, and cell service is limited on our property (T-Mobile works well, but others are a bit weak). If you need WiFi, feel free to come sit in the guest gazebo behind our guest house; we will provide WiFi login info upon check-in. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send us a message!

Layla is located down a gravel driveway in the field just west of our main Lodge; you'll see the trailers to the north side of Hwy 706 as you come into town, just past the fire station. Just pull down our gravel driveway, and Layla is the first trailer on the left! You can park in the gravel spot right in front of the trailer. Our rentals are all self-check-in! There is a lockbox with key attached to one of the string light posts; we'll message you the code to allow you to check yourself in anytime after 4pm. Easy!

Such a cute place! We loved it! I especially enjoyed the hot shower outdoors & the retro touches in the RV. It was very clean and the location felt safe and near amenities.

We absolutely loved our stay for a weekend getaway and wish we would’ve been able to stay longer! Bedding was super cozy & comfortable. Loved the accommodation of a little space heater for the nights as they went into the low 40s. Location was great with the short distance to the park entrance.

The trailer was a great, Scott was amazing! When I arrived, I was struggling with the getting the key lock open and messaged Scott, and he was instantly responsive! He was even ready to send in help but luckily I was able to figure it out. The amenities in the trailer were top notch, with thoughtful touches that really amped up the whole retro vibe ;) Showering in the outhouse was a unique experience :D The hot water in bathroom and the space heater inside the trailer will keep you toasty on cold nights! A lovely change of pace from hotels and lodges and would highly recommend to fellow travelers!

this spot was so charming and peaceful. We had a really easy time finding it and checking in, we were lucky with mild weather but when it got more chilly at night the RV stayed warm and cozy. The gas station nearby was very well stocked and we didn’t have any issues cooking our own food at our site, but we also visited the Bar & Grill restaurant. Also a great rec :) Hosts were so thoughtful in putting this place together and making sure we had everything we needed. Showers and toilets exceeded our expectations in terms of cleanliness and quality, and Mt. Rainier was a close drive away. Most of the hikes were a tiny bit further (closer to a 40 min drive), but it was a very easy drive. So worth it!
