About

Welcome to the Nisqually Suite at Ashford Lodge! Located in the tiny town of Ashford only 6 miles from the entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park, we are a cozy, whimsical home base for all of your mountain adventures! Nisqually is one of three studio suites in our guest house, and features a private entrance, log-framed queen-sized bed, big river rock gas fireplace, comfy couch, kitchenette, and private bathroom. Our property features a shared hot tub, BBQ gazebo, fire pit, and access to trails.

Good to know

Nisqually Cabin Suite has everything you need for a Mount Rainier getaway! Whether you're looking for an adventure basecamp or a cozy place to relax, we have you covered. The "Ashford Lodge" is an old bed and breakfast that we bought and renovated in 2021, turning it into a fun mountain retreat! There is a big main house, guest house, and vintage trailer "glampground", with a shared hot tub, BBQ gazebo, and gardens. The Nisqually Suite is located in our guest house, which has two other cabin suites. Each room has it's own private entrance, and there is a double layer of heavy insulation in the walls to keep noise down to a minimum. Nisqually Suite is our most popular room for a reason... The big bay windows look out into lush greenery right above your cozy queen-sized bed, and the big river rock fireplace keeps you warm in its rustic glow on chilly nights. Make yourself a hot cocoa in the kitchenette, curl up with a good book in front of the fire, and watch the birds in the trees outside... Nisqually is the place to relax. And if you're up for a movie night, you can watch movies from bed on the huge 100" projector! The smart projector is stocked with all the major streaming apps, and we supply a complimentary subscription to both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Bring the popcorn and cozy up for an epic movie night! The room also features a small kitchenette stocked with the basics: coffee maker with fresh ground coffee from local roaster Campfire Coffee Company, sugar, creamer, tea, cocoa, and cider, as well as electric water kettle, a microwave and mini-fridge. There are also mugs, glasses, bowls, silverware, napkins, and a wine/bottle opener. The bathroom features a shower stocked with top-quality Beekman 1802 shampoo, conditioner, and bodywash. Towels, washcloths, and hairdryer will be ready and waiting for you. Outside the room, you'll have access to the shared hot tub, tucked back in a private space in our garden away from all the rooms. It's located in a gazebo, so you can enjoy it even when it's raining! The hot tub is shared with guests in our other rooms and is first come, first served; we just ask that guests limit their hot tub time to an hour or so other guests get a chance to relax too. There is separate gazebo with gas grill and picnic table in our garden where you can grill up some post-hike burgers, and a hammock so you can relax in the sunshine! Our property also backs right up to Ashford County Park, which features a small network of paved trails that meander through beautiful woods! Follow our small gravel trail (look for the gravel going into the woods between the hot tub and vintage travel trailer) to connect up with the main park trail, and enjoy and nice evening stroll!

Neighborhood

Ashford is the last little town before reaching the entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park, and is a quiet, friendly place! First of all, our property backs right up to Ashford County Park, with a mile of easy hiking trails through some pretty woods! Grab a morning coffee and go for a nice walk! We have a gravel trail that leads from our property to the park (head back towards the fire pit and you'll see it!) Dining options: BaseCamp Bar and Grill (seasonally from April to October) - Located RIGHT NEXT to our property (seriously, just a short walk) they feature great pizzas, burgers, local craft beer, and outdoor seating! They close at 8pm. Trailhead Bar and Grill - Another easy walk, if you're looking for something later, they are open til midnight and feature fantastic burgers and drinks. And now, breakfast on weekends! Breakfast: If you're looking for something simple, the Cafe at Whittaker's Bunkhouse is just a short walk up the road and features great espresso drinks and breakfast sandwiches. Copper Creek Restaurant - If you're looking for a hearty breakfast, this is the place! A 5 minute drive towards the park entrance, this legendary local spot has the stacks of pancakes and hearty omelets you're looking for. Be sure to get some of their blackberry pie, it's famous for a reason! Trailhead Bar and Grill - Only open for breakfast on weekends, but it's great food! Paradise Village Ukrainian Cuisine - Their crepes are amazing! Recommend ordering ahead; they can sometimes take a while, but the food is very good. Groceries and Gas: Ashford Grocery is one of two little general stores. They have basic groceries, including a wide selection of good-quality microwaveable meals if you're looking for something cheap and easy, as well as a gas station with both gas and diesel. Suver's General Store, also within walking distance, has more grocery options and assorted odds and ends if you forgot something at home.

Guest access

We have three parking spaces right behind our guest house, so you can park right next to your room. There is a keypad on the door; we'll send you the code before check-in so you can let yourself in. Our property is located on the edge of Ashford, and is walking distance to two restaurants, a cafe, and two general/convenience stores.

The Ashford lodge is a terrific place every time I've been here, and I've been coming once a year for the last 4 years, since 2021! They keep the place tidy, and I love all the amenities offered. I usually stay at the Kautz Suite, but had the chance to stay at the Nisqually Suite this time and loved it!
